Truman State University came up with three goals in the second half and went on to post
a 3-1 nonconference win over Winona State University October 4 at Maxwell Field.
It was the first meeting between the two schools and Truman improved to 6-2-1 for the
season, while Winona State fell to 8-4.
The first half ended in a 0-0 tie, but it didn't take Truman long to take the lead, as
Jill Harlan found the net on an assist from Brooke Stephens one minute and 32 seconds into
the second half. The Bulldogs then made it 2-0 when Nicole Taylor scored on a header off
an assist from Jocely Parisi at the 50:28 mark.
Winona State did close to within one at 2-1 when Sanda Davel banged in a shot at 69:20
of the match. Kristy Sheahan recorded an assist on the play.
But that would be all the closer Winona would get, as Stephens added a goal with two
minutes and ten second left to play.
Crystal Pearson recorded four saves for Winona State and Jenny Miller and Emily Huyck
split the goal keeping duties for Truman State. The duo finished with seven saves for the
game.
