RENSSELAR, IN -- For the second straight day the Winona State University soccer team
failed to put the ball in the goal and suffered another shutout loss, this time 2-0 at the
hands of St. Joseph's College in the final round of the Puma Classic September 6.
St. Joseph's came in the match ranked 12th in the preseason balloting and put single goals
in the Warriors' net in each half of play. Warrior freshman goalie Crystal Pearson did not
have a bad outing, stopping nine of 14 St. Joseph shots, but Mary Reid scored on a
breakaway at 26:08 of the first half and Sara Booth added an insurance mark at 50:30 of
the match.
WSU finished with nine shots on goal, three coming from junior Betsy Morgan.
The Warriors fall to 0-2 on the season and St. Joseph's won both of its matchups in the
tournament.
