Warriors score four goals in second half win over Wis-Platteville

Andrea Zilka scored both of her goals in the second half and led a four-goal outburst by Winona State University in the Warriors' 5-0 nonconference win over the University of Wisconsin-Platteville September 13 at Maxwell Field.

The win ran the Warriors' current winning streak to three games and improved their season record to 3-2.

The Warriors led only 1-0 at the end of the first half, thanks to Erin Morgan's sixth career goal. But in the second half freshman Jessica Brancale scored her sixth goal of the week to up the WSU margin to 2-0. Zilka followed with the first of her goals and then Betsy Morgan ran the Warrior lead to 4-0 with her 45th career goal. Zilka then rounded out the scoring with a goal on a free kick. It was Zilka's 33rd career goal.

The Warriors got assists from Danielle Krieg on Erin Morgan's score, while Magill Railton assisted Brancale and Jill Miller and Jenny Winders recorded assists off the goals by Zilka and Betsy Morgan respectivelly.

Betsy Morgan, the all-time WSU point leader, now has 116 career points and Zilka has totaled 80 points in her career at WSU.

Crystal Pearson recorded her third straight shutout, thanks mainly to the WSU defense, which allowed the Pioneers (2-4-1) only two shots on goal. Pearson and the Warriors have not allowed an opponent goal in the last 309 minutes and 30 seconds.
