BEMIDJI, MN -- Junior Andrea Zilka scored four goals to lead Winona State University to
a 9-0 win over Bemidji State University in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action
September 19.
The win improved the Warriors to 2-0 in NSIC play and upped their winning streak to
five games to stand at 5-2 for the season.
Zilka, who had the winning goal in the recent 2-1 double overtime win over Mankato
State University, now has five goals in two matches and eight for the season, second
highest on the team.
Sophomore Jill Menzies tied a single-game school record with four assists and added a
goal to finish with six points in the match, while freshman Jessica Brancale took the team
lead for goals scored with a pair of nettings and has nine for the season.
Also scoring goals for the Warriors was freshman Danielle Krieg and sophomore Erin
Morgan, while the other WSU scoring came on assists by Brancale, Krieg, junior Jenny
Winders and freshman Sandra Davel.
It was the fourth shutout of the season for the Warriors' freshman goal keeper Crystal
Pearson. Pearson made the save on the only shot on goal the WSU defense allowed, while the
Warrior offense put 40 shots on goal.
It was the fourth meeting between the two teams and WSU has won all four, posting
shutouts in the last three meetings. WSU has outscored the Beavers 46-1 over three years.
