Story by: Winona State Sports Information Office
EMPORIA, KS -- Winona State University came up with seven runs in the third inning and rolled to a 9-0, five-inning, win over Missouri Western State University in what would go on to be a split of two games in the weather-plagued Emporia State University Tournament.
After posting the shutout the Warriors fell to the Griffons by a 6-1 count.
In that seven-run inning the Warriors got three-run home runs from Jenny Wilmes and Callie Givens, while Amanda Wilhelm drove in another run with a double.
Stacey Struzynski gave up only a fourth-innning basehit in recording the seven-strikeout complete game.
In the nightcap the Warriors came up with only three hits. Megan Paulson drove in the Warriors' only run in the sixth inning when she was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
