Warriors Drop Pair

Stacey Struzynski WINONA, MN -- It was a tough day for Winona State University in the first day of it Round Robin Tournament played on Maxwell Field at Alltel Stadium. The Warriors were blanked 4-0 in  their opener with the University of Wisconsin-Parkside and then were trimmed 3-2 in eight innings against Lewis University, IL.

In the opener the Warriors could come up with only five hits, as Terra Halron and Karyn Koehnle each had two hits.

Kristen Fossell fashioned a five-hitter, with two walks and five strikeouts in suffering the loss.

WSU Stacey Struzynski had a tougher loss in the eight-inning affair with Lewis. Struzynski gave up just two hits and one walk and pretty much held the Flyers at bay with 16 strikeouts.

Chelsea Rosenow slugged a two-run home run for a 2-0 WSU lead in the bottom of the first, but the Flyers managed to sneak in a couple of runs to tie the game and then put up a run in the top of the eighth for the win.
