Story by: Winona State Sports Information Office

Chelsey Ewing WINONA, MN -- After losing two games in the first day of its Round Robin Tournament, Winona State University bounced back with a pair of shutouts wins on the second day of play on Maxwell Field at Alltel Stadium. WSU came up with an 8-0 win over the University of Wisconsin-Parkside and followed up with a 3-0 victory over St. Cloud State University.

Strong pitching served the Warriors well, as Chelsey Ewing hurled a six-hitter, as only two runners reached third base, with 2 walks and a dozen strikeouts.

In the second game, Kristen Fossell was even stronger. Fossell allowed only one runner to reach second and tossed a two-hiiter with two walks and two strikeouts.

In the opener, Mollie Bjelland iced the contest for the Warriors with a grand slam home run in the seventh, while Chelsea Rosenow gave the Warriors all the runs they eventually would need with a two-run home run in the first frame. Terra Halron drove in two runs in the second with a double.

Jenny Wilmes gave the Warriors all the runs they would need with a two-run double in the first of the second game. Halron's RBI-double added the icing to the cake.
