Struzynski Tosses No-Hit Gem
Story by: Winona State Sports Information Office

WAYNE, NE -- Freshman Stacey Struzynski tossed a no-hitter in a 4-0 win over Northern State University to help Winona State University sweep three games in the first day of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Crossover held at Wayne State College.
Earlier in the day the Warriors started with an 11-3 win over Bemidji State University and followed that up with a 4-3 win over Minnesota State University Moorhead in a contest that lasted 11 innings.
Struzynski did give up a walk and WSU did commit one error to miss out on the perfect game. Struzynski did strike out ten batters, as she retired the first NSU batters she faced and eventually allowed only one batter to reach second base.
A two-run home run by Katie Maultra in WSU's three-run fourth, was all the offense Struzynski needed. Chelsea Rosenow drove in the other run in the fourth and Amanda Wilhelm tripled to lead off the fifth and went on to score on Laura Wright's bunt.
In the middle game of the WSU three-game stint, Rosenow drove in the winning run with one out in the last of the 11th. WSU had led 2-0 with single runs in the first and fifth innings before MSUM scored twice in the seventh to tie the game. Each team scored a run in the ninth.
Rosenow drove in WSU's run in the first and Wright lead off the fifth with a triple and scored on Callie Givens' base hit. In the ninth Rosneow was hit by a pitched to start the frame, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on a double by Annie Stuedemann.
Kristin Fossell went the distance for the Warriors, allowing ten hits and one walk, while striking out eight for the win.
In the Warriors' first game of the day, Chelsey Ewing tossed a five-hitter, walked four and struck out six in improving 6-1 on the season. WSU led 5-0 after three innings, but BSU touched Ewing for three runs in the top of the fourth only to get tremendous team support in WSU's last of the fourth when the Warriors scored six runs.
Wilhelm led that support with a pair of home runs, a two-run shot in the second and a one-out solo blast in the fourth. Also in that fourth frame, Jenny Wilmes came up with a solo home run and Givens added to the WSU longball parade with a solo home run of her own.
For the game, Wilhelm was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and her three RBI, while Wilmes finished 2-3 with two runs scored to go with her RBI.
