WSU Splits With Concordia St. Paul

WINONA, MN -- Winona State University bounced back from a 6-0 loss to captured a 6-4 win in the nightcap and earned a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference split with Concordia University St. Paul on Maxwell Field at Alltel Stadiuum.
The Warriors picked up four unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth inning of Game Two and erased a 3-2 deficit and then held on for the win when CSP scored a run in the top of the seventh. An one-out single by Callie Givens got the Warriors going in the frame. CSP then committed two erros and Chelsea Rosenow capitalized on it by coming up with a two-run double that gave the Warriors the lead for good.
Rosenow also gave the Warriors an early 1-0 lead when she scored on a passed ball in the third inning.
Stacey Struzynski, who was coming off a no-hitter, started for the Warriors and hurled a complete game for the win. Struzynski gave up a hit to leadoff the third inning and that snapped a string of nine consecutive innings without allowing a hit. For the game Struzynski gave up seven hits, walked two and struck out eight.
In the first game the Warriors could not finish off any offense, as they had only one runner reach third and just two others advance to second base.
