King 4th In National Championships

Story by: Winona State Sports Information Office

Emily King CHARLOTTE, NC -- Winona State University's Emily King closed out her collegiate career by placing fourth in the hammer throw finals of the NCAA Division II Track and Field National Championships.

King came up with a toss of 179-feet, 7-inches on her final throw of the competition to place fourth and in the process earned All-American status. It was the best of three successful throws King had in the finals.

Warrior senior Nicole Lonning also competed in the hammer throw and finished 13th with a throw of 159-8.

For King it was the fourth All-American achievement for her in the past two seasons. Last year King placed third in the hammer throw national championships. Earlier this year King won the indoor national championships in the 20-pound weight throw, an event she placed second in in the 2006 NCAA II nationals.
