Warriors Sign Eight For 2007-08 Season

WINONA, MN -- Winona State University head track and field coach Mason Rebarchek has announced the signing of eight athletes to letters of intent for the 2007-08 season.
The group is headed by a pair of Minnesota State High School League state champions in Winona, MN Senior High School’s Michelle Potter in the Class AA discus and Rebecca Stier from Grand Meadow, MN/LeRoy-Ostrander/Southland, the Class A shot put champ. Joining the list of incoming freshmen who signed with the WSU track and field team is high jumper Kale Johnson (Apple Valley, MN), sprinter MiKayla Sanoki (Stillwater, MN), jumper and hurdler Alyssa Lammers (Mukwonago, WI), thrower Mallary Skoff (Farmington, MN) and distance runners Ashley Vonck (Waukesa, WI) and Kelsey Stensland (Lewisville, MN).
Early signees last fall for the Warriors was sprinter and high jumper Elizabeth Braun (Maplewood, MN) and distance runner Bethany Easker (Birnamwood, WI).
The Winona State is a NCAA Division II member and competes in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
The Warrior track and field team sent three participants to both of the NCAA Division II Indoor and Outdoor National championships this season. The Warrior efforts produced a national champion 20-pound weight thrower and two All-Americans in the indoor competition and another All-American and fourth-place hammer thrower in the outdoor finals. WSU placed tied for 10th and tied for 40th in the respective meets.
In the NSIC indoor and outdoor championships, WSU was third in each.

High school: American Legion Female Athlete Award winner, U.S. Army Reserve National Scholar/Athlete Award winner; Five-Time state participant in shot put, placing 8th, 7th, 4th and 1st; 2007 State champion Shot put, Three-Time Section champion in shot put, Section champion in discus, Five-Time Subsection champion in both shot put and discus, Six-Time All-Conference Track and Field; Two-Time All-Conference, MVP Basketball; All-Conference Volleyball.

High school: Four-Time High Honor Roll and Scholar athlete; State participant in 4 x 100 relay, Section qualifier, MVP, Team Captain Track and Field; MVP, Team Captain Cross Country.
