Devine Breaks Record In Season Opener

MANKATO, MN -- Jess Devine kicked off the indoor track and field season for Winona State University on a fine note by breaking the Warriors' record in the 60-meter hurdles during competition of the MSU Early Season Opener held at Minnesota State University.
Devine dashed to first place in the hurdle event by posting a time of 9.03 seconds and broke the WSU record by .12 of a second.
In the rest of he meet, freshman Emily Asuncion had an all-around evening, placing second in the triple jump (34-8 1/2) fourth in the 60 hurdles (:09.45) and was fifth in the 60-meter dash (:08.12).
The Warriors had a solid meet in he throwing events as Rebecca Stier was third in the weight throw (39-1 1/4) and Chelsey Brown was third in the shot put (41-6).
The Warriors also got third in some distance events, as Michelle Schreiner recorded a time of 1:40.76 in the 600-meter event and Bethany Easker turned in a clocking of 5:28.30 in the mile run.
