Steir, Relay Team Break WSU Records

Rebecca Stier STEVENS POINT, WI -- Winona State University's, freshman, Rebecca Stier and the 4 x 400 relay team shattered a pair of Warriors records in placing fourth in the 11-team Eastby/Pointer Invitational.

Stier broke the Warriors' 19-year record in the shot put when she unleased a toss of 46-feet, 1 and 1/2-inches and bettered the old record by six-and-3/4 inches. Stier came in second in the event and also notched for herself a provisional national qualifying distance.

The relay team of Lisa Meyer, Nicci Johnson, Kelly Milkent and Jennifer Bradford toured the event in a second-place time of 4:00.11 to better the previous WSU record by :03.61 seconds.

The Warriors did finish with three first-place performances. Allie Glasbrenner won the 3,000-meter run in 10:48.48, Emily Asuncion captured the 55-meter hurdles with a time of :08.66 and Kale Johnson was first in the high jump at a height of five-foot three-inches.

Rounding out the top-three efforts for the Warriors was Michelle Schreiner in the 400-meter dash (1:01.39) and Chelsey Brown with a provisional national qualifying distance in the shot put (44-3 1/2).
