Warriors 2nd At Vikings Olympics

Lindsey Derby ROCK ISLAND, IL -- Winona State University won five individual events and one relay in placing second in the Vikings Olympics held at Augustana College.

Those finishing first for the Warriors was: Lindsey Derby (100 meters, :12.95), Kelly Milkent (200 meters, :26.72), Jennifer Bradford (400 meters, :59.72), Lisa Meyer (400 hurdles, 1:06.21) and Kale Johnson (high jump, 4-11).

The Warriors also won the 4 x 400 relay in a time of 4:03.70.

Coming in second for the Warriors was Nicci Johnson in the 200 (:26.79) and Chelsey Brown (Shot put, 40-1 1/2), Beth Braun (400 meters, 1:02.19), Bethany Easker (5,000, 19:13.76) and Emily Asuncion (100 hurdles, :15.68) all came in third.

WSU did come up with another thrilling effort. Freshman, Rebecca Stier throw the discus 145-feet, 4-inches on her first collegiate throw. That broke a 19-year-old Winona State record by two and one-half inches and also was a national provisional qualifying throw.
