WSU 4th In League Championships

NSIC Logo WAYNE, NE -- Winona State Univesity is in fourth place after the first day of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference track and field championships.

The Warriors had seven individuals and one relay team garner points to come up with 32 points.

The top effort by WSU came from Jenna Southworth, who was second in the 3,000-Meter Steeplechase with a time of 11:48.37. Also scoring points for the Warriors in the event was Allie Glasbrenner in sixth place (12:19.09).

Lauren Brown was the only other Warrior to place in the top three as she came in third in the javelin with a throw of 119-feet, 7-inches.

Coming in fourth for WSU was Michelle Potter in the hammer throw (153-2) and Madie Heinrich in the 10,000-Meter run (41:11.51).

Rounding out the individual point scoring was Chelsey Brown, fifth in the hammer throw (147-2), and Kale Johnson, sixth in the high jump (5-1/4).

The other points for the Warriors came from the 4 x 800 relay team that set a WSU record with a time of 9:42.36 in placing fifth. On the relay team was Kathryn McElroy, Michelle Schreiner, Kelsey Stensland and Alyssa Brandt.
