WSU Finish 4th In NSIC Championships

NSIC Logo WAYNE, NE -- The Winona State University 4 x 100-meter relay team set a school record and the Warriors went on to finish fourth in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championships.

The Warriors totaled 103 points to place fourth, three points out of third.

The quartet of Samantha Lisowski, Lindsey Derby, Nikki Olson and Jessica Devine came in second in the 4 x 100 event with the WSU record time of :48.27 seconds.

The 4 x 400 relay also competed and placed third with a time of 4:07.78.

Freshman, Rebecca Stier came up with a pair of third-place finishes by throwing the shot put 42-feet, 2 3/4-inches and the discus 131-11.

Also coming in third for the Warriors was Derby in the 100-meter dash (:12.48) Jennifer Bradford in the 400-meter dash (:57.21) and Lisa Meyer in the 400-meter hurdles (1:01.96).

Garnering fourth-place points for the Warriors was Emily Asuncion in the 100-meter hurdles (:15.3), Nicci Johnson in both the 200 (:25.61) and 400 (:58.51) and Chelsey Brown in the shot put (40-5 1/2).

Points scored for fifth place went to Jess Devine in the 100 (:12.55) and Kaitlyn Jensen in the 100 hurdles (:15.74), while Olson (200, :26.11), Asuncion (triple jump, 34-9 1/2) and Jenna Southworth (1,500-meter run, 4:55.69) got points for finishing sixth.
