WSU Edges Minnesota State Moorhead

Carmen Stankowski MOORHEAD, MN -- Winona State University survived a difficult match and defeated Minnesota State University Moorhead 3-1 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference season opener for each team.

Winona State won the first two games 30-26 and 30-17 before MSU came back for a 31-29 win in Game Three. But WSU bounced back to win Game Four by the same 31-29 count to capture the win.

Lisa Dobie led the Warriors with 39 assists and 16 digs, while Kerry Daley posted 15 kills and Kim Nemcek finished with 12 kills.

Carmen Stankowski was the leading defender for WSU with 24 digs, Rudi Balich recorded 22 digs and Mollie Bjelland finished with 13.
