ATLANTA, GA -- Winona State University's Ana Wurtz along with Katie Cezat of Hillsdale College, MI was named Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division II National Player of the Month for December.

Wurtz burned of the nets for 147 points and a 24.5 scoring average for the six games the Warriors played in December. During the process Wurtz set or equaled six individual career highs and was named Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Player of the Week in back-to-back weeks.

The totals for the month for Wurtz included .515 (50-97) shooting from the field, .558 (29-52) from three-point field goal range, .900 (18-20) from the free throw line along with a 5.2 per game rebounding average. Wurtz also recorded 13 assists, 1 blocked shot and 12 steals.

Wurtz came up with 33 points against Valley City State, ND and 28 points against Lynn, FL in consecutive games in the Radisson Hotel Roseville Holiday Classic and was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.

Wurtz Named Tournament MVP

ST. PAUL, MN -- Winona State University's Ana Wurtz averaged over 30 points a game and was named to the All-Tournament Team and the Most Valuable Player in the Radisson Hotel Roseville Holiday Classic.

Warriors Overpower Lynn, FL

ST. PAUL, MN -- Ana Wurtz and Natalie Gigler scored 28 and 23 points respectively and propelled Winona State University to a 78-54 win over Lynn University, FL in the Warriors' second win at the Radisson Hotel Roseville Holiday Classic.
