Ballard Announces Coaching Assignments

WINONA, MN -- Winona State University head basketball coach Scott Ballard has announced coaching assignments for the 2007-08 season.
Ballard announced that Amy Mahlum has taken over the Assistant Coach position with the departure of former Associate Head Coach Lisa Carlsen, while Shannon Schonrock has also accepted an assistant coach position with the Warriors.
Mahlum actually will be beginning her second season with the Warriors, after spending the 2006-07 season as the Warriors' graduate assistant coach. Mahlum played collegiate basketball at the University of North Dakota and was a member of three North Central Conference championship teams. She was a two-time All-NCC pick and also earned academic All-Conference honors. Mahlum graduate from Kingsland High School in Spring Valley, MN in 2002.
Schonrock played four years of collegiate basketball at the University of Minnesota. She played in 107 games and concluded her career with 102 consecutive starts. She was a three-time Gopher Team Captain, who was named the Gopher MVP in 2006 and received All-Big Ten Conference honorable mention in 2005, while competing in four NCAA tournaments -- reaching the Final Four once and the Sweet Sixteen three times. The Gophers posted a 95-33 record during her career. Off the court Schonrock was a three-time academic All-Big Ten and two-time academic All-District honoree and on the court she finished her collegiate career as the Gophers’ all-time leader in three-point field goals (230) and three-point field goal percentage (39.7). Schonrock is a 2002 graduate of Blue Earth, MN Area High School.
