Warriors Record First Win Of Season

LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL -- Winona State University built a lead in the first half and went on to record its first win of the season with an 86-81 win over Bellarmine, KY in the Disney-Tip Off II.
The Warriors gave up a 2-0 lead to start the game, but went on to build a 16-point, 44-28, lead with 1:36 in the half and eventually settled for a 44-34 lead at the intermission. Bellarmine did managed to trim the deficit to two points, 80-78, with 59 seconds left in the game. A field goal by Molly Anderson and two free throws by Amanda Reimer then put the Warriors back up by six, 84-78, with 18 seconds left.
WSU finished the game with four players in double figures, led by the 18 points from Reimer. Natalie Gigler followed with 17 points and Anderson and Anna Wurtz each tallied 16 points.
The Warriors controlled the boards 36-22 with Reimer coming up grabbing a team-high eight rebounds. WSU also made good use of its free throw chances by making 12 of 15 attempts.
