Warriors Topped By Northern State
Story by: Winona State Sports Information Office
ABERDEEN, SD -- A second-half run by Northern State University proved to be too much for Winona State University to overcome in a 58-53 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference loss at the Wachs Arena.
The first half ended in a 28-28 tie and WSU eventually held a 31-30 lead with 12:29 to play. But that is when the Wolves wend on a 16-1 run for a 46-32 lead that the Warriors could not overcome. WSU did try a comeback with a 17-8 run to trim the deficit to five points, 54-49, with 46 seconds to play. But that was a close as the Warriors could get.
Only two WSU players reached double figures, as Jamie Majerowicz and Ana Wurtz each scored ten points.
WSU forced NSU into 15 turnovers, but the Wolves outrebounded the Warriors 39-30.
