Steffen Hits 30 In WSU's 2OT Win

Jenny Steffen MOORHEAD, MN -- Winona State University's Jenny Steffen capped off a 30-point night with a pair of free throws with seven seconds left in the second overtime period and led the Warriors to an 85-83 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference win over Minnesota State University Moorhead at the Alex Nemzek Fieldhouse.

Steffen scored 13 points in the overtime periods after netting 17 points in regulation action for her career-high 30 points. Steffen scored six of the Warriors' 11 points in the first extra period and then came up with seven in the second round of extra five-minute play.

The Warriors trailed 77-73 with 3:24 left in the second overtime period, but came back to tie the game at 81 with just 57 seconds left. From there Natalie Gigler's layup gave WSU the lead for good at 83-81 and then Steffen capped off the game with her final two free throws tha left her six-for-six from the charity stripe.

Amanda Reimer added 16 points for the Warriors, while Ana Wurtz came up with 12 and Gigler finished with 10.

WSU had troubles on the boards as MSUM outrebounded WSU 47-24, but the Warriors forced the Dragons into 20 turnovers and scored 29 points off those turnovers.

The game was tied 11 times and the lead changed hands 11 times.
