Warriors Upend Marauders

Jenny Steffen WINONA, MN -- Jenny Steffen scored with 0.2 seconds left to give Winona Stat University a 50-48 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference win over the University of Mary in McCown Gymnasium.

The layup by Steffen came after the Warriors trailed by 13 points in the second half.

WSU trailed 44-35 with 5:16 left to play and then held the Marauders scoreless for the next 4:49 before taking a 48-45 lead with 14 second left in regulation. But UM came back with a three-pointer to tie the game with :10.2 to play. After a time out, WSU brought the ball down the court and Steffen eventually worked her way around the left side and got the winning bucket.

Steffen finished with a Warrior team-high 15 points and Natalie Gigler added ten points to the inning effort.

The Warriors trailed 30-22 at halftime and came back to outscore the Marauders 28-18 in the final 20 minutes of play.

With the win the Warriors secured their 16th win of the season, which equals a single-season record for victories by the Warrior women's team.
