WSU Falls Short To No. 5 Concordia St. Paul

Kelsey Homewood WINONA, MN -- Winona State University had two final shots in the last seven seconds of the game but came up shot in  71-70 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference loss to No. 5-ranked Concordia University St. Paul at McCown Gymnasium.

CSP came back from a four-point deficit to take the lead, 71-70, with 9.6 seconds left in the game. The Golden Bears had gone ahead on free throws and on the ensuing series WSU came down the court and took a timeout with 7.6 seconds left. Warrior head Coach Scot Ballard drew up a final play, and the Warriors got a shot off, grabbed the offensive rebound and put another shot that was missed as the final buzzer sounded.

The game with close throughout with WSU leading 36-32 at halftime before the Golden Bears outscored the Warriors 39-34 in the final 20 minutes of play.

Kelsey Homewood paced the Warriors with 15 points, Molly Anderson and Jenny Steffen each scored 12 for WSU and Amanda Reimer finished with 11 points.

The difference in the game came from the field where CSP was 26-of-56 to the Warriors' 21-of-51.
