Warriors Crack Region Top Ten

INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- The NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Committee came out with its regional rankings and Winona State University cracked the North Central Region rankings at No. 10.

I marked the first time ever a WSU women's basketball team had reached the top ten in the regional rankings.

The Warriors are 10-8 against Division II foes and 12-8 against Division II in-region foes.

The regional rankings is the only rankings that is used to determine teams for regional competition in the Division II national tournament. The top eight ranked teams in the region advance on to the regional tournament.

Tournament winners from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, North Central Conference and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference are automatic selections to the region tournament and the five remaining berths are at-large berths.
