Story by: Winona State Sports Information Office
CROOKSTON, MN -- Winona State University put up 63 points in the first half and rolled to a 98-57 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference win over the University of Minnesota, Crookston.
The win locked up a home game for the Warriors in the opening round of the NSIC Tournament March 1.
The win also continued to improved the Warriors single-season record for wins -- now at 21.
After the 63-point, first-half effort, the Warriors came back in the final 20 minutes to put the defensive clamps on the Golden Eagles by holding UMC to just 19 points.
Jenny Steffen led the charge for the Warriors with a game-high 30 points, while Ana Wurtz tossed in 17 and Natalie Gigler finished with 10.
The Warriors continued to have a hot hand from three-point field goal range, knocking down 15 of the 27 three-pointers they attempted. WSU also controlled the boards 39-27.
