Warriors Tie For 2nd In Riverport Classic

WINONA, MN -- Winona State University shot the low team score of the day and went on to tie for second place in the three-team Best Western Riverport Classic held at the Cedar Valley Golf Course.
The Warriors totaled 332 on the first day of the 36-hole tournament and then came around with a second-day total of 321 to finish with a 653 total and a tie with Augustana College, SD and only two strokes off the winning pace set by Minnesota State University, Mankato.
MSU's Lisa Moline was the meet medalist, as she shot rounds of 73 and 84 for a 157 total a three-stroke win.
WSU's Courtney Sovereign shot the low round of the day with a four-over par 76 and tied for third with a 161 after opening the tournament with an 85. Teammate Tara Christensen had the second lowest round of the second day with a 79 and completed the two-day event with a 163 and a tie for sixth with fellow Warrior Michelle Narveson.
Also cracking the top ten for the Warriors was Hilary Botton with consecutive days of 82 for a 164 and an eighth-place finish.
