Warriors Clipped By St. Benedict's

WINONA, MN -- Winona State University came up with two wins in doubles play and two wins in singles action, but it was not enough, as the Warriors lost 5-4 to the College of St.Benedict's, MN in nonconference competition at St. T's.

Freshman, Heather Pierce kept her hot hand going by inning both of her matches. Pierce teamed with Mary Hesterman to win the No. 1 doubles match 8-1 but then had to go three sets to win at No. 1 singles. Pierce lost the first set 6-4, but rallied for a 6-3 win in the second set and then posted a 10-6 decision to capture the match.

Hesterman also won her singles match by coming up a 6-4, 6-0 verdict.

The other WSU win went to the No. 3 doubles pair of Courtney Zinter and Kaycee Moore by an 8-5 count.
