WSU Opens NSIC Championship Play

MINNEAPOLIS, MN -- Winona State University opened defense of its Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference championships by placing four singles players into the championship round and all three doubles teams into the semifinal round after completition of the first day of the tournament at the Baseline Tennis Center.

Reaching the finals of singles play was Heather Pierce at No. 1, Mary Hesterman at No. 2, Amanda Asche at No. 3 and Holly Peltier at No. 5.

Erika Richae advanced to the third-place finals at No. 6 and Kaycee Moore moved on to the consolation championship at No. 4.

In doubles play the teams of Pierce-Hesterman at No. 1, Peltier-Richae at No. 2 and Moore and Courtney Zinter at No. 3 all advanced to the semifinals.
