Warriors Capture NSIC Championship

MINNEAPOLIS, MN -- Winona State University finished with four individual championships in capturing its fourth consecutive Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championship in play held at the Baseline Tennis Center.
The Warriors totaled 58 points in the tightly fought race for the championship. Southwest Minnesota State University was second with 54 and Upper Iowa University was third with 53.
Winning individual singles championships for the Warriors was freshman Heather Pierce at No. 1 and Amanda Asche at No. 3.
The Warriors also was two titles in doubles play, as Holly Peliter and Erika Richae won at No. 2 and Kaycee Moore and Courtney Zinter captured the No. 3 title.
In other singles play, Mary Hesterman was the runnerup at No. 2 and Peliter was also runnerup at No. 5.
Hesterman and Pierce were the runners up at No. 1 doubles.
Richae went on to place third at No. 6 singles and Kaycee Moore was the consolation champion at No. 4 singles.
