Pierce Leads WSU Honors

Heather Pierce MINNEAPOLIS, MN -- Winona State University freshman Heather Pierce was named Freshamn of the Year as part of the honors announced by the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.

Pierce helped the Warriors to their fourth consecutive team championship by winning the No. 1 singles championship. For that Pierce was also named to the All-Conference team.

Joining Pierce on the All-Conference list was Amanda Asche, who won the No. 3 singles title, Holly Peliter and Erika Richae, who won the No. 2 doubles title, and Kaycee Moore and Courtney Zinter, winners at No. 3 doubles.

Pierce also was All-Conference Honorable Mention at No. 1 doubles with partner Mary Hesterman, who was also honorable mention for placing second at No. 2 singles. Peliter was the runnerup at No. 5 singles and earned All-Conference honorable mention.
