Pierce Reaches ITA Region Semifinal Game

KEARNEY, NE -- Winona State University's Heather Pierce advanced to the semifinal round of the ITA Regional.

The No. 17-ranked Pierce won a pair of singles matches, opening with a 6-2, 6-1 win before defeating Amanda Ferrari of Southwest Minnesota State University 2-6, 6-2, 10-4 to advance to the semifinal match. Pierce was scheduled to meet Marina Bugaenco of Minnesota State University, Mankato.

The Warriors' Courtney Zinter remained alive in consolation singles play with wins of 8-0 and 8-6 and will meet Morgan Forsyth of the University of Colorado-Pueblo in semifinal action.

Pierce also continued play in consolation No. 1 Bracket doubles action. Pierce and Mary Hesterman won twice by 8-3 and 8-2 scores and were slated to meet SMSU's Cailey Grupe and Trisha Baldwins in the bracket's championship match.
