Athletic Training Program Director/Chair - Department of Health, Exercise and Rehabilitative Sciences:
Shellie F. Nelson, Ed.D., ATC/R,  Professor, has been at Winona State University since 1988.   She served as the Head Athletic Trainer until 1995 and then assumed the role of Program Director. Prior to WSU, Shellie served as the Head Athletic Trainer at Augustana College in Sioux Falls, the University of MN-Morris, and Saint Mary's University in Winona, MN. Shellie has a Doctorate of Education in Leadership from Saint Mary's University of Minnesota. Her dissertation is titled " Assessing Professional Behaviors of Atheltic Trainers". Shellie's Master's degree is in Human Performance from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and her Baccalaureate degree is from Winona State University. 

Clinical Coordinator of Athletic Training Education:

Brian Zeller , PhD, ATC, Associate Professor, joined the faculty at Winona State University in 2001. Brian has his Ph.D. in Exercise Science from the University of Kentucky. His dissertation is titled "Anatomical, EMG, Kinematic and Kinetic Differences of the Hip in Female and Male Athletes."  Brian's Master's degree in Athletic Training is from Indiana State and his Baccalaureate degree in Athletic Training is from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Brian has both clinical and collegiate athletic training experience prior to coming to WSU. 

Head Athletic Trainer:
Stacey Czaplewski , M.Ed., ATC, Joint Appointment with Winona Health, has been at Winona State since 1998 and with Winona Health since 2000. Stacey is also an adjunct instructor for WSU. Stacey is currently working on a Doctorate of Education in Leadership at Saint Mary's University of Minnesota. Stacey's Master's degree is from Tusculum College in Greeneville, TN and her Baccalaureate degree is from Iowa State University.

Assistant Athletic Trainer:s:
Brandon Donahue , MS, ATC is an employee of Winona Health and works with WSU students and athletes on a part-time basis. Brandon's Master's degree is in Human Performance from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and his undergraduate degree in Athletic Training is from Winona State University. Brandon has worked with WSU since 2000.

Holly Dibert, MS, ATC is has been a full time Assistant Athletc Trainer at WSU since 2004.  Holly's Master's Degree is from Iowa State University and her undergraduate degree is from WSU. Holly worked at Winona Sports Medicine and at Iowa State as a graduate assistant prior to returning to WSU. 

Kim Sieve, MS, ATC has been a full time Assistant Athletic Trainer at WSU since 2007.  Kim completed her Master's Degree at Michigan State University.  Her undergraduate degree is from Winona State University.  While at Michigan State Kim worked with both Men's and Women's Track & Field/Cross Country and Women's Field Hocky.

Nora Kraemer, ATC is employeed by Winona Health and has worked at WSU since 2006.  Nora completed her undergraduate degree at Winona State University and is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Applied Sports Science at the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse.

Approved Clinical Instructors (ACI)

Ambjor Brown, M.Ed, ATC is the  head athletic trainer at Saint Mary's University in Winona.

Bill Jacobs, MS, ATC is employed through Winona Heath and has been the head athletic trainer at Winona Senior High School since .

Jill Messling, ATC is employed by Fransican Skemp in LaCrosse, WI and is the athletic trainer at Arcadia High School.

Brandon Donahue, MS, ATC is the athletic trainer for Cotter High School in addition to his duties at WSU.
