Patient Care Policy
Prerequisites for HERS 291
After successful completion of HERS 191, BIO 211 & 212 ERS:AT majors will be required to complete the following medical requirements prior to enrollment HERS 291 during the Fall semester.
ONLY the Fall semester section of HERS 291 will be designated for ERS:AT Majors.
HERS 291 Prerequisites
1. First aid & CPR certification
2. ATEP Medical Requirements: To be completed by 3 rd Class meeting

Hepatitis B Vaccinations Completed or Waiver

Technical Standards Signed and on file with ATEP Program Director

Medical Physical Completed and on file with ATEP Program Director
Patient Care Exercise and Rehabilitative Science: Athletic Training (ERS: AT) majors may NOT participate in patient care until he/she has met the medical requirements of the Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP). These requirements include having a completed Medical Physical, Hepatitis B Vaccinations or Waiver, Technical Standards form completed, and First Aid and CPR certifications. Athletic Training Students (ATS) that do not have each of the above completed may not participate in any patient care activities.
Upon completion of the Medical Requirements, ATS will be assigned to an Approved Clinical Instructor (ACI) and begin clinical education experiences that are planned, directed, and assessed by the ACI. These clinical education experiences are part of HERS 291 and a Reflective Journal will be required. ATS that meet the application requirements should apply to the ATEP during the first week of December each year.
