As with any job that you acquire,
there is paperwork that must be done before you begin working. In most
cases, your new supervisor will do the form/s with you. If you are a new
employee and have never worked for WSU before, you will
need to complete all three of the following forms:
- Work Authorization Form - The student payroll
office uses this form to enter specific information about your job on
campus. Without this form, you cannot be entered into the payroll system.
A separate authorization form is required for each different
job you have at the university .
- Form W-4 (Employee’s Withholding Allowance
Certificate) – This form sets up your allowances for tax withholding
and affects how much state and federal tax is withheld from your pay.
Many students choose to talk with their parents to determine how many
allowances they wish to claim.
- Form I-9 (Employment Eligibility Verification)
– This form is required by the U.S. Department of Justice, and all new
employees must complete this form as soon as they are
hired. You will need to show your supervisor documentation that proves
your eligibility to work. If you do not have the correct documentation
with you, it will delay your employment. For a list of acceptable documents,
