Most of the guidelines on this student employment site are valid for all student employees (for example, Eligibility, Finding the Right Job, Time Sheets, Pay Rate, and Direct Deposit). So, please take the time to look over the entire site. One difference, however, for nonresident alien students is the restriction on number of hours you may work in a week (see Nonresident Alien Work Hours). There are also a couple of extra forms you must complete at the time you are hired, and each nonresident alien employee must meet with the Student Payroll Manager before they begin working (see “Getting on the Payroll—A Few Extra Forms”). Issues regarding your tax withholding are a little more complicated; but brief explanations are on this site and, hopefully, will be helpful to you. I hope your experience in this country, and at Winona State University , is enriching, rewarding, and enlightening. My job as Student Payroll Manager is to help you move through the process, and paperwork, that comes with being employed in this country. Please feel free to stop by my office if you have any questions related to working on campus. Kathy Mahlke Student Payroll Manager Somsen 205-N 507-457-5065, kmahlke@winona.edu
