Have more than one person review your resume. Ask someone who is attentive to details, can effectively critique your writing, and will give an honest and objective opinion. A great place to start is the staff working the Resume Cart! No appointment is necessary to get your resume critiqued at the on-campus Resume Cart during the following times: |
- Tuesday 11:00 - 2:00
- Thursday 11:00 - 2:00

| Create a Rough Draft of your Resume |

Your resume, combined with a cover letter, are the keys to opening the prospective employer's mind and door so that you can proceed to the next step in the process - an interview! |

Some things you can check while developing your
resume:
- Includes name, address, phone and professional e-mail address
- Does not include personal information (age, religion, etc.)
- Does not include names of references or former supervisors
- Is either one or two pages
- Has a minimum 1 inch margin
s - Is prepared in chronological, functional, or combination format
- Has perfect spelling and grammar and no typographical errors
- Includes dates for education and experience sections
- Use consistent formating
- Use professional looking font (no smaller than 11)
- Most relevant information is closest to the top
- Is tailored to reflect the type of work that I want
- Objective focuses on what I can offer an employer
- If using a Skill Summary section it highlights skills & experience
- Describes experiences in bullet points using action verbs
