Prerequisite Changes

Prerequisite course requirements to the Pharm.D. program for 2013 admission and beyond have changed:

  • Ethics/Philosophy has been eliminated
  • Physics prerequisite can be fulfilled by two semesters of algebra-based physics or one semester of calculus-based physics

Qualify to Apply

There are now three ways to become eligible to apply to the Pharm.D. Program.  Applicants only need to fulfill one of these three minimum requirements:

  • 3.0 overall PharmCAS GPA
    or
  • 3.2 GPA in most recent 60 credits
    or
  • 70% composite PCAT - NEW!


PCAT Changes

Starting July 2012:

  • Biology section will include more genetics, health and human anatomy & physiology, and less non-human biology (including plants & animals)
  • Chemistry section will include basic biochemistry processes and will have less identification of nomenclature
  • There will no longer be two writing scores, rather just one on a six-point scale
  • All PCAT scores will be re-normed, meaning percentile ranks of all scores from the past five years could shift up or down with the new norming group

The registration deadline for the July PCAT is in about two weeks, see below for all registration deadlines.
