Yoga for Second Language Learners: Lowering Affective Filters with Total Physical Response

Entering into a new and dissimilar culture can cause a great amount of anxiety in second language learners. I held four yoga sessions within an eight-week period with the hopes of helping international students on campus lower their anxiety; however, my research segued into the application of yoga in the classroom. I focus primarily on the benefits of incorporating yoga as a total physical response activity, which in return creates a valuable source of input for the language learner. This pilot project brings to light the positive benefits that come from the connection of mind and body.​
