Oral Presentation #G7 -scape Brianna Klapperich Faculty Mentor: Vittorio Colaizzi The seemingly abstract elements of design can evoke emotion. The area where two fields of color meet can visually resonate as place. A rectangular two-dimensional surface, whether it is a canvas covered in paint or a photographic print, invites contemplation in and through a confined visual space. A strong horizontal line and a concentration on ground rather than figure can suggest a vast, empty place transcending the parameters of the work. What seems limited and impoverished can therefore sanction personal significance. The focus of my exhibition and talk reiterate the effectiveness of the aforementioned points. |
