Instructions for Student Presenters

Poster Printing

Poster size will be 36 in high by 48 in wide.  You will need to have your poster ready for delivery to the printer in the Information Technology office (Somsen 207) no later than April 6. However, the watchword is the earlier the better.  Waiting past this date could result in the failure to get it printed.  The preferred and best way to submit your poster to the IT office is to bring it on a flash drive.   Also, consult with your research mentor on how to pay for the poster.  You will need to bring an account number to get the poster printed.

Important for posters submitted to Somsen 207 for printing:  After opening PowerPoint, the first thing you need to do before adding any text or images is set the page size at 36" high and 48" wide (page size is located under the Design tab).  The completed poster needs to be saved as a PDF (use the "save as" option) before taking it to Somsen 207.

Poster Presentations

You have been assigned a poster number which indicates the location to set up your poster.  Clips and easels will be provided. Posters can be set up anytime after 11 am on April 12 and should be set up before the event starts at 2 pm. Posters can be taken down after 6 pm and should be down by 6:30.  All posters should be set up and available for viewing for the full 4 hours of the event.

You have also been assigned to either Session 1 at 2-4 pm or Session 2 at 4-6 pm. You are expected to be with your poster the entire two hours during your assigned sessions. Last year's event was very well-attended so plan on a lot of great interactions with other students and faculty.

Oral Presentations

Oral presentations are assigned 20-minute time slots.  We ask that presentations last no longer than 17 minutes to allow for questions from the audience.

Plan on using your own laptop for your PowerPoint presentation, but also make to bring a backup copy of your presentation saved on a CD or a flash-drive just in case there are problems linking your laptop to the projection system.

See the Index of Oral Presentations for the scheduling of your talk and make sure to arrive early so that all of the presentations can remain on schedule.

Performances

Performances will use the stage in the East Hall of Kryzsko.  Please be there ahead of your scheduled time for any set up of audio/visual associated with your presentation.
