Oral Presentation #E5 Predicting Academic Success in College Based on Performance in High School Annelise Hughes Faculty Mentor: Kara Lindaman The college and university admissions process have moved form traditional applications and interviews to basing preliminary decisions of potential students on cumulative test scores from the ACT or SAT (Rooney and Schaffer 1998). These test are constructed to predict college readiness and the ability to perform well in freshman year (Pike and Saupe 2002). This study examines the likelihood of college success (college GPA) based on one’s cumulative GPA or ACT composite test score at the high school level. College cumulative GPA is used as the measure of success in college. A survey of WSU current student is used to collect data to run statistical analysis in determining the results. The findings show that ACT composite test score is not the significant determinant of college success. |
