WSU NMR Project
Advanced Topics in Instrumentation: Organic Spectroscopy - Dr. Hein
In the past, instruction delivery in this course was exclusively lecture based. With the addition of the new NMR spectrometer, we now have the opportunity to incorporate techniques for the students to carry out. Instruction was changed so that the theory is first introduced in the classroom and then practiced with the instrument. Topics included shift reagents, variable temperature, and 2D NMR including COSY, NOESY, ROESY, TOCSY, QC, and BC. A project at end of semester utilize the techniques learned (also including UV, IR, and MS) in the identification of individually assigned unknown compounds, mostly terpenoid natural products.
