WSU NMR Project - Undergraduate Research
Miertschin Group - Inorganic Chemistry
Dr. Charla Miertschin and her students are working on the synthesis of new metal cluster phosphine complexes of the general form [M3Y4X3(PR3)3]4+ or [M3Y4X3(P-P)3]4+, where M = Mo or W, Y = O or S, and X = Cl or Br. 31P NMR is used to characterize these compounds.
Students and Project Titles:
Aaron Ebertowski, "Synthesis of a Formato Complex of [W3S4]4+, An Incomplete Cubane-type Cluster"
Jessica Heinecke, "Manipulation of a Trinuclear Complex Containing A Molybdenum Core"
Both students were granted $500 WSU Undergraduate Student Research Grants.
