Rural Integration of Technology into Education (RITE)

The RITE project is a collaborative effort between St. Cloud State University; Minnesota State University, Mankato; Southwest State University; and Winona State University. The project has two major goals:

  • to assist students in developing the technology competencies identified in the MnSCU and NCATE/ISTE technology competencies and standards
  • to assist faculty in developing the technological skills necessary to integrate technology into teacher education courses.

The project has identified four goals that embody this purpose. Among these goals are the integration of technology into university courses and developing technology-rich field experiences for teacher education students. Both of these goals weigh heavily in our spring plans.

Teacher Education Partnership

At the beginning of the 1997-98 school year, the Hiawatha Valley Education District, Winona Public Schools and Winona State University formed the teacher education partnership (TEP). The partnership's goal is to enhance the preparation of teacher education students and classroom teachers in our area. Since that time, approximately 50 people representing the K-12 schools throughout the Hiawatha Valley Education District and Winona State University have met regularly to study the ways in which the partnership's goals might be achieved. This website documents the beginnings of our partnership and the results of our work.
