CMST LISTSERVE

Good News! We are replacing the system of mass e-mailing with a departmental listserve. It will replace the function of the mass e-mail system we presently use. Announcements of departmental interest such as social functions, advising, forensics and changes in grad. requirements will be sent over the listserve. We will discontinue using the mass e-mails as a way of reaching multiple users on March 1, 2001. Students and faculty who sign up for the listserve will automatically receive messages through it.

* It will alleviate e-mails with long headers of 100 email addresses
  * It will alleviate the problem of incomplete lists of majors and minors on everyone's computers
  * It will alleviate the problem of the e-mail list containing outdated addresses
  * It will alleviate the problem of faculty and students all having different e-mail lists
  * We will use the listserve in the same way we used the mass mailing lists.

It should send you no more mail than the mass mailing ever did. We are simply changing the format of distribution. But, the new system places the impetus on you, the reader, to sign up. Please do so soon.

One caveat: Do not respond to messages you get from the list. They will be distributed to all the users if you do.
