SUMMARY
OF COLLEGE LEVEL EXAMINATION PROGRAM
CLEP
The
College Level Examination Program is a national credit by examination program
operated by the College Entrance Examination Board (CEEB)
OBJECTIVES
OF CLEP
·
To
provide a means to evaluate unconventional, out of school college level
education.
·
To
provide alternate channels for meeting general education and specific course
requirements, especially for
·
To
recognize superior preparation and accomplishment of high school students at the
point of college entrance.
DESCRIPTION
OF CLEP - General Examinations
·
These
measure knowledge of the content of the basic liberal arts courses ordinarily
included in the first two years of general education at college.
The five General Examinations offered
are English Composition, (a four hour writing assignment is an additional
requirement for English Composition), Humanities, Mathematics, Natural Sciences,
Social Sciences & History.

If
a student wishes to retake any CLEP, he/she must wait a minimum of six months to
reschedule the test and repay the fees.
University
Studies credit will be granted for the General Examinations as follows:
1.
English
Composition
4
credits for English 111 - College Reading/Writing
(Pass is a scale score of 50)
***In
addition, a student must pass a four hour writing assignment prepared and
evaluated by the English Department.
2.
Social
Sciences & History
5 semester credits for Social Science in
University Studies
(Passing is scale score of 50)
3.
Natural
Science Test
5 Non-laboratory semester credits for Natural Sciences in
(Passing is a scale score of 50)
University Studies
4.
Humanities Test
5 semester credits for Humanities in
University Studies
(Passing is a scale score of 50)
5.
Mathematics
Test

semester credits for Math 100
(Passing is scale score of 50)
DESCRIPTION
OF CLEP - Subject Examinations

These
examinations are comparable to end-of-course or final examinations in particular
undergraduate courses.

If
a student wishes to retake any CLEP test, he/she must wait a minimum of six
