Career Counseling

If you need help choosing a major or are thinking of changing your major, the Counseling Center can help! Students can access DISCOVER, an Internet-based career development program, that can match students’ interests, values, and abilities to various careers. Student can also obtain a wealth of information about various majors and careers through this program. A second option for students is to take the Strong Interest Inventory, a test that helps match one’s pattern of interests to diverse occupational options. Counselors interpret inventory results, help students sort through various options, and refer them to other career resources. The Counseling Center maintains a career research library.

Residual ACT Test Procedures and application are available here.  If you have further questions, contact the Counseling Center at least one week prior to the test date.

College Level Examination Program (CLEP) Testing

The CLEP Examination has now become a computer based testing program and students test at designated centers. For a summary of which CLEP Tests are available for credit at Winona State University, click here.  For further questions on CLEP test credit, contact Carol Ziehlsdorf at 507-457-5106 or Sarah Curtin at 507-457-5511..  

The nearest test center is in Rochester Community and Technical College.  The Continuing Education office administers the test at a cost of $55 test fee and $20 administration fee.  Test appointments are available during regular office hours (8:00am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday).  Please call 507-280-3157 to set up an appointment.
