Putting Kids First: Advocating for School Counseling

Assuring the academic success and well-being of all students in Minnesota is central to the mission of educators, school counselors and the hope of parents.  Assisting state decision makers by providing data-driven outcomes ensures the integrity needed when balancing student needs with financial realities.  Therefore, school counselors need to be at the forefront of developing data, which provides evidence of the effect of school counselors and school counseling programs in schools.

The mission of the Minnesota School Counselor Research & Advocacy Coalition is to help to demonstrate the value of school counselors at all levels. It is our hope that his web site will provide resources as well as data to work toward state mandated and funded K-12 counseling programs in all schools in Minnesota. Please join the efforts for supporting children in their right for a successful and enriching education.

Finally, if you are a school counselor or district administrator that a) wishes assistance with establishing data collection and analysis strategies, and/or b) has data wishing to post on this site for use by others, please go to the Registration page. A representative from the Coalition will respond to your request.
