A Masters of Science in School Counseling
Overview
As a CACREP training track, the School Counseling program prepares program graduates for employment as K-12 school counselors. Successful completion of the program leads to recommendation for licensure as a school counselor in Minnesota or Wisconsin. If a student plans to become licensed in a state other than Minnesota or Wisconsin, they are advised to become familiar with the specific licensure requirements of the state in which they plan to practice. The coursework and training specific to School Counseling is consistent with Transforming School Counseling National Inititive. As a Companion School, the innovative training program at Winona State University prepares school counselors to meet the diverse and complex needs of students, faculty, parents, and the systems in which they work and live.
